Parents were told at what age a child can be given barbecue
Barbecue can be dangerous for the child’s body. This was told to Gazeta.Ru by Teledoctor24 pediatrician Daria Bakshutova.
According to the specialist, pediatricians and pediatric gastroenterologists have found that meat fried at the stake is best consumed by children over 10 years old, and this recommendation is justified by several reasons.
“Firstly, the meat used for barbecue (pork, beef, lamb) is not dietary. Secondly, meat marinade can include many spices and herbs, which can irritate the gastrointestinal tract. Also, the marinade may contain mayonnaise, which adds fat to this product. Often, not only children but also adults lack the enzymes to digest such a piece of meat. Thirdly, the fats that make up the barbecue become refractory when cooked on fire, which further complicates the digestion of such food, ”said Daria Bakshutova.
The pediatrician warned that eating shish kebab could cause abdominal pain, intestinal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and loose stools in the child.
“During the summer trips to nature, we are well aware that the preparation of this dish is inevitable, therefore we strongly recommend that you offer your child food in this way: take pre-cooked meat or fish with you and string the pieces on a skewer. For children over 10 years old, in the absence of diseases of the digestive system, it is possible to cook barbecue from chicken or turkey (with marinade without mayonnaise and a lot of spices),” commented Bakshutova.
