A cooperation agreement was signed today between the government of the Rostov region and the Center for the Development of Exports of Agro-Industrial Products of the Russian Federation (“Agroexport”) during the XXV Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn – 2023” that started in Moscow. The official portal of the government of the Republic of Rostov-on-Don reports this.
The document was signed by the Deputy Don Governor – Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky and the acting director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Agroexport Dmitry Krasnov.
- The Rostov region is the real leader of agricultural exports in the country in all key areas, such as grains and the fat and oil industry,” noted Dmitry Krasnov. “Such results were achieved thanks not only to a strong raw material base and logistics infrastructure, but also to the high quality of process management and investment activity in the region. And we are ready to support the development of new projects in the region aimed at expanding agricultural exports.
The purpose of the agreement is to promote and popularize the export of Russian agricultural products in foreign markets, to involve agricultural and processing enterprises of the Rostov region in export activities.
- According to preliminary data, at the end of September, the volume of exports of agricultural products from the Rostov region amounted to almost 23 million tons, which is 96.5% more in physical terms than in the same period last year, said Konstantin Rachalovsky. – In monetary terms, agricultural products were exported in the amount of more than 6.8 billion US dollars. The first place in the structure of Don agricultural exports is occupied by cereals – more than 70%, in second place are products of the oil and fat industry – 16%, and 13% are occupied by other agricultural products, including products of food processing enterprises.
The geography of exports from the Rostov region includes about 100 countries. The top five major grain importers include Turkey and Egypt, occupying the first two lines of the ranking, followed by Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Libya.
Shipments to Yemen, Algeria, Kenya, Israel, and Brazil are growing. Indonesia and Mexico became new markets during this period. Recently, African countries such as Sudan, Tunisia, Angola, and Rwanda have begun to actively purchase Don grain.
As for fat and oil products, one of its active importers from the Rostov region is Egypt. Also, since the beginning of the year, 10 times more sunflower oil has been exported to India than in the same period last year, and six times more to Saudi Arabia and Sudan.
