An exhibition in Miami will show art made by orangutans and chimpanzees

He Center for Great Apes of Floridawhich has a sanctuary where orangutans and chimpanzees can live in their habitat, receives its 30th anniversary in 2023 with a series of festivities in Miami including Art exhibitions made by themselves monkeysin addition to educational programs and fundraising activities that will be held through December.

The works painted by the animals will be exhibited in various places: the bookstore Books & Booksthe brewery Tripping Animals Brewing Co.the Wirtz Gallery of the First National Bank of South Miami and the restaurant Ghee Indian Kitchen. The art of apes residents of the sanctuary will be available for purchase and profits will benefit the center.

The calendar of events begins with the opening of the exposure Primates Paintings + Portraits on October 6 in Books & Bookswith the presentation of Patti Raganfounder of Center for Great Apes. The works exhibited will be a variety of portraits and paintings of some of the apes best known in the center: Bubbles (former mascot of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson), Sandra, Pumpkin, Jacob, Mowgli and Keagan. The sample It will remain open throughout the month of October.

The celebration continues in Tripping Animals Brewing Co., in Doral, on November 10, when the second round of the exposure Primates Paintings + Portraits. Visitors will have the opportunity to savor custom craft beers from Tripping Animals Brewing, made in honor of the anniversary of the Center for Great Apes. This exposure will last the entire month of November.

Finally, on December 7, the last inauguration of the exposure in the Wirtz Gallery from the First National Bank, in South Miami, where it will be available to be explored throughout the month of December, which will culminate the art activities.

Additionally, a fundraising dinner will be held on October 20 at Ghee Indian Kitchenlocated at 8965 SW 72nd Pl, KendallFL 33156. 100% of profits will be donated to the Center for Great Apes. Attendees can expect a tasting of more than 16 dishes served family style. The cost is USD 65 per person.

Finally, the brewery Tripping Animals Brewing Co. has created a series of three beers with specially designed labels, in an artistic style influenced by the apes residents of the sanctuary. These specialty beers will be available for purchase in more than 20 states nationwide and will be served at events.

On December 9, 2023, a exclusive visit for members in the sanctuary located at 5843 Van Simmons Rd, WauchulaFL 33873. This event is available to members of all levels.

Spaces for Member Days are limited and fill up quickly, so it is recommended that you join as a member before November and watch for the email with Member Day registration instructions. Memberships start at $75; those who reach the Great Ape Hero level (a $350 pledge) will have the opportunity to schedule a private tour.
