The fourth generation F-16 fighters promised to Kyiv can be used to combat cruise missiles. Expert Michael Bohnert spoke about the main task of the aircraft in a publication by the American publication Defense News.
The analyst said the aircraft’s first role would be to support air defense by intercepting cruise missiles. He admitted that several F-16 aircraft would be enough to support Kyiv’s overloaded air defense systems.
At the same time, he suggested that the F-16’s ability to carry cruise missiles would not have a major impact on their use because “these weapons are in short supply.”
Also, the task of the F-16, according to Bohnert, will be to attempt to suppress air defense systems. To fulfill these purposes, the aircraft can be armed with AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles.
It was previously reported that the spring of 2024 could become a potentially important phase of the conflict in Ukraine. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
