Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, deputy leader of the LDPR faction Yaroslav Nilov explained the need to establish Combat Veterans Day.
In a conversation with the Parliamentary Gazette, the deputy remindedthat in Russia there are about two million people who are considered combat veterans.
He added that in the near future his colleagues in the Liberal Democratic Party will submit for consideration an initiative that proposes making July 1 the Day of the Combat Veteran.
“The legislative establishment of Combat Veterans Day will emphasize the importance of the veterans’ movement in our society and contribute to the further formation of the patriotic consciousness of citizens,” Nilov said.
