In the latest edition of Magaly TV La Firme, Magaly Medina He referred to the battle he is facing Arturo Pomar Jr. For the name Sand Hash. The musician asks Robelo Calderon, artist manager, to give him the rights to the name, since he was one of the creators of the brand, along with Pedro Suarez Vertiz.
For Magaly Medina, This action seems in bad taste, since it is Pedro Suarez Vertiz who sustained the group’s career. Likewise, he indicated that he does not consider the creation of the title to be a great contribution of Arturo Pomar Jr.
“Pedro Suárez Vértiz is the iconic figure of Sand Hash“He is our most important rocker in recent years,” he said. Magaly Medina. “(…) It seems unpleasant to me that now one of the members is trying to take over a name,” said the journalist, who pointed out that she does not know what the musician’s current condition is, but remembers that “at one point he was bad in the United States, economically and financially, his health was very bad.”
Likewise, he indicated that, in his opinion, Robelo Calderon He has guarded the band’s name very well.
Magaly Medina He also indicated that last year Arturo Pomar Jr. wanted to be interviewed on the program to talk and “complain” about Pedro Suarez Vertiz. “Which we do not allow for many reasons. I think that ambition cannot cloud your respect and admiration for a person who is the author and creative genius of that group.”
Regarding the creation of the name, in which the drummer intervened, the journalist chose to minimize it and indicate that people do anything for money.
“Hash contributed to the name, forgive me, that is a great contribution, and what about the composer, the one who sustained the entire career of that group. You have to be very careful with these things, I respect Arturo Pomar, but I think you have to ground yourself. People will do anything for money lately,” he said.
“I’m not accusing anything, worse (Arturo) approached us last year wanting to denounce Pedro Suarez Vertiz. Furthermore, I have been informed that Arturo had tried to register the name of Sand Hash only in his name, which would not be good at all,” he concluded.
Through a statement, the musician addressed Magaly Medina and responded to each of the ATV journalist’s comments.
“Given the comments given by television host Magaly Medina on her program on Wednesday, October 4, I want to make the following clarifications. At no time do I seek to appropriate the name of the band ‘Arena Hash’, but rather to recognize that this “brand” belongs to Pedro Suárez Vértiz and Arturo Pomar Jr., as we are the creators,” she began.
“I flatly deny that I, Arturo Pomar Jr., have approached the Magaly TV program to want to denounce Pedro Suarez Vertiz for some reason. I also deny having approached the Indecopi offices last year to want to register the name ‘Arena Hash’ in a personal capacity, this information is completely false,” he stated.
Arturo Pomar Jr. He indicated that he found the way Magaly Medina referred to him to be disrespectful. Likewise, he stressed that as the founder of the band, he has every right to work or undertake a project about the group.
“I find the lack of information negligent when giving an opinion on this issue of patents and trademarks. It is disrespectful to want to minimize and ridicule my contribution to the name. I, as a founding member of ‘Arena Hash’, have every right to be able to work or undertake a project that involves the name and history of this group; and that does not mean I find myself in a need or selfish ambition, since everything we build together is a legacy that belongs to us,” he explained.
After answering each point, he indicated that he is currently continuing his career in Miami as a teacher at the School of Rock school, teaching children, young people and adults, “enjoying economic stability that allows me to live in peace.”
“I want to finish by saying that I only want the Arena Hash brand to return to its original authors Pedro Suárez Vértiz and Arturo Pomar Jr.,” the statement concludes.
