Messi nominated for MLS Most Valuable Player Award

Lionel Messi, the Argentine striker of the American club Inter Miami, has been nominated for the Major League Soccer (MLS) player of the season award. This is indicated on the official website of the tournament.

There are 30 football players vying for the prize, one of whom is Messi’s teammate Sergio Busquets. Each club can choose two candidates for the MLS Most Valuable Player Award. Also in contention for the prize are Christian Benteke (DC United), Hector Herrera (Houston Dynamo) and Roman Bürki (St. Louis City).

It is noteworthy that Messi played only four games in MLS, of which two matches were incomplete. In total, the Argentine played 12 matches for Inter Miami, in which he scored 11 goals and provided five assists.
