Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban shared photographs of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Granada, Spain. Orbán posted the pictures on his Facebook page*. In the photo they shake hands, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez standing nearby.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also published photographs of his meetings with a number of other leaders, including the head of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kochevsky and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.
According to Orbán’s spokesman, Bertalan Havasi, during the meeting with Charles Michel, the Prime Minister emphasized Hungary’s position regarding EU funds, which are intended for the country in connection with the deteriorating migration situation, as well as in light of the economic slowdown and competitiveness of Europe, and also the EU budget.
The Summit of the European Political Community and the informal meeting of the European Council are taking place on October 5-6 in the Spanish city of Granada. One of the key issues discussed at the summit is the future enlargement of the European Union and its consequences. Official candidates for EU membership include Ukraine, Moldova and the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro), as well as Turkey.
