Putin: Russia may terminate ratification of the nuclear test ban treaty

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow may withdraw ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty because the United States has not ratified the document.

On the sidelines of the Valdai international discussion club, Putin suggested that Russia may well behave in a mirror manner in its relations with the United States. We are talking about a treaty that Washington has not yet ratified.

However, according to the head of state, the relevant issue remains with the State Duma deputies. Putin emphasized that ratification can be withdrawn and that will be quite enough.

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that the refusal of the United States of America to ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in 2018 had a negative impact on international security.

According to him, this decision, “which, according to the cynical statements of the Americans themselves and many of their allies, did not change anything in practical terms,” actually had a destructive effect on global security. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
