The President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, called the idea of including athletes from the Russian Federation in the refugee team unacceptable.
“There is an old wisdom – don’t dig a hole for someone else, you will fall into it yourself. Therefore, I would like to warn those who make such statements so that they themselves do not end up on this team,” Pozdnyakov said.
Thus, he spoke about the words of judoka from Ukraine Georgy Zantarai. The athlete expressed bewilderment why Russian athletes could go to the Olympics in a neutral status.
Zantaraya said that athletes from Russia and Belarus could be included in the refugee team.
Stanislav Pozdnyakov also admitted that he potentially does not see a single Russian Olympian at the competitions in Paris in 2024. More details read the material Public News Service.
