Tragedy in Tamaulipas: 12 dead after collapse of Ciudad Victoria church

Mrs. Leticia Juana was one of the 62 people who were in the church celebrating the baptism of a child when the accident occurred that has so far left 12 dead – including three minors – and 50 injuredof which at least a dozen remain hospitalized due to the injuries they suffered.

Until now, it is known that the fatal victims were the doctors Briana Yamilé Rodríguez Hernández and Juan Carlos Cárdenas Garcíaas well as his eight-year-old son, Mauricio Alejandro Cardenas; teachers Martha Patricia Pérez Martínez and Flor Gisela Ruiz Nieto; and two women called Norma Edith Ruiz and Ana Victoria Ibarra Castillo. According to Mayor of Ciudad Victoria, Adrián Oceguera Kernion, a baptism was being held when at approximately 2:18 p.m. the roof of the church collapsed and buried the attendees, who took refuge under the pews.
