Ukraine shot down 24 Iranian-made Russian drones launched from the Crimean peninsula

The Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses shot down last night over the regions of Odessa, Mikolayiv (south) and Kirovohrad (center) 24 of the 29 Shahed kamikaze drones launched by Russiathe Ukrainian Air Force reported in a statement.

During the night “the occupiers attacked Ukraine with offensive type drones Shahid from the south direction,” reads the Air Force report, which explains that the launches were carried out from the territory of the Crimean peninsulaoccupied by Russia since 2014.

According to Sergei Bratchuk, from the Military Administration of the Odessa region, 5 of the Shaheds were intercepted over that Ukrainian region that has been a Russia’s priority target since July, when Moscow forces began hitting Ukrainian port and agricultural infrastructure.

Bratchuk added that others 9 drones were shot down over Kirovohradwhere one of the devices that could not be intercepted hit an “infrastructure object” causing a fire.

The authorities have not yet communicated the balance of damages.

The United Kingdom Government announced this Wednesday that it aims to train more than 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers before the end of the year, including fighter jet pilots.

“The first pilots arrived in the UK for training a month ago. Training is already underway. And this in the context of a very extensive training program for the Ukrainian Army in the United Kingdom,” said the British ambassador in kyiv, Martin Harris.

In statements to Ukrainian public radio and television SuspilneAmbassador Harris argued that even before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, The British Government already had an important training program for Ukrainians, with more than 20,000 soldiers.

In relation to the training currently underway, Harris stressed that even the British military themselves learn from the “very useful experience” of the Ukrainians. “This shows that we now have a very strong partnership between our militaries,” he said.
