The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, stated this Thursday that the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at Ifema is compatible with holding another Grand Prix at the Circuit de Cataluña-Barcelona: “What I am not going to do is “to do is apologize for F-1 coming to Madrid.” She said this in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio collected by Europa Press, in which she explained that she became interested in the project two years ago and that it is a “tourist and economic boost” for the Spanish capital. “Capital is free and decides where to settle and where to create jobs and walk freely if it is accompanied and helped,” she added. Ayuso has said that she “cannot apologize to the other autonomous communities” for hosting F-1, and she has defended that it is a project that was born with the will of all Spaniards. He has argued that the Community of Madrid has generated conditions of openness, of mixing, of joy, of low taxes, of public-private collaboration, of respect for the company and of openness that favors “large events without putting extraordinary obstacles in place.” She has insisted that F-1 will arrive in Madrid “without committing a single public euro” but with all the bureaucratic facilities. “FOR ALL SPANISH PEOPLE” She has also said that holding an F-1 Grand Prix in Madrid will also help Catalan businessmen to do business. “Businessmen from Catalonia will be able to do business thanks to F-1 in their land. This is a vocation that Madrid has to be at the service of all citizens. Not to do regionalism or look at ourselves,” she concluded.
