An explosion occurredaround 6:00 p.m. (central Mexico time), at the Miguel Hidalgo refinery, located in Tula, Hidalgo, due to an accident at the HDR plant in unit 400 and this would have left eight people injured.

According to the information known, the affected people were transferred to the General Hospital of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex); however, two of them were classified with serious injuries while the remaining six are being cared for normally.

Security elements and groups of paramedics gathered at the scene, managing to safely and quickly transfer the injured. To date, there is no official position from the Mexican parastatal company on the causes of the incident.

Despite the above, according to The Sun of Tulancingo, the explosion would have been around 6:00 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. The event had already been controlled, so police officers are found inside the refinery to learn more about the event.

In reference to what some witnesses explained to the event, the accident would have been caused by a burst steam turbinecausing the steam to be the culprit for the injuries of the workers, who were presumably mechanics and instrumentalists.
