After two months of waiting, Bogotá is ready to receive Martin Garrix in what promises to be one of the most attractive shows for electronic music lovers in the country. Starting at 8:00 pm, the Dutch DJ will dazzle the thousands of attendees at the Movistar Arena with his audiovisual show, a stage where many were delirious with the celebration of the Sounds Vol 2 —which included appearances from Nervo, Jonas Blue and The Chainsmokers—last week.

Garrix is already in the country’s capital, and in his Instagram stories he passed by the venue that had already sold out for his DJ set, just at the moment when the Uruguayan group No Te Va Gustar was performing. But the surprises would not end there, since his arrival in Colombia coincided with the release of his second single of the year.

After publishing Carry You Last Friday, February 16, the Dutchman released the song on all digital platforms Breakawaywhich had already been performed during their 2023 live performances, but had not yet been officially released.

The song is a collaboration of the DJ with his colleague and compatriot Mesto, to which Wilhelm’s voice is added to give shape to a mix of organic elements such as the presence of a violin and an acoustic guitar, alternating with the effective EDM rhythms that have characterized Garrix’s career. As happened with Carry Youthe release includes a version with Wilhelm’s vocals and another only instrumental.

In a press release, Mesto revealed details about the premiere, calling it “one of the most fun projects Martin and I have worked on together so far.” He also confirmed that the first time it was tested Breakaway live during the last Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and since then both DJs incorporated it into their sets regularly. However, its culmination as a release was more recent.

Just a few weeks ago we made the decision to finish the song, and once we started, we couldn’t resist adding more. Every time we thought it was complete, one of us would introduce an element that made the track 100 times cooler. “That’s why working with Marty is always a pleasure!” Mesto explained, highlighting the addition of Wilhelm on vocals as “the final touch” that allowed the track to be viable for release as a single.

In this way, everything indicates that tonight in Bogotá will be the first time that Garrix adds to his repertoire Breakaway in its definitive version for the enjoyment of its followers, who have waited almost two years for its return.

This Friday will be his fifth presentation on Colombian soil, since he has already been in two editions of the Estéreo Picnic Festival (2017 and 2022).and in 2018 he passed through Bogotá and Medellín in separate DJ sets presenting his fourth studio album, BYLAW.

Although the month is almost over, the last days of February will have several notable concerts. In Bogotá, on Saturday the 24th Gilberto Santa Rosa will perform at the Movistar Arena, while Los Amigos Invisibles from Venezuela will do the same at the Lourdes Music Hall.

In Cali, No Te Va Gustar will continue its tour of Colombia and will give a concert at the Enrique Buenaventura Event Theater on the 24th. For its part, On Thursday, February 29, the capital of Valle del Cauca will see the first of three dates by British DJ Carl Cox in Colombia, at the Centro De Eventos Valle Del Pacífico.
