250 skiers took part in the race in memory of coach Valery Kulikov
On December 18, a ski race was held in the Tumsky forest park. It was dedicated to the memory of the coach of the Tumsk sports school Valery Kulikov. He passed away untimely in February 2022.
The initiator and main organizer of the competition was the family of Valery Evgenievich. It was supported by the ministries of physical culture and sports of the region, the Ski Racing Federation and the district administration. At the parade of athletes, it was noted that Valery Kulikov was selflessly devoted to his work and skiing, brought up more than one generation of talented athletes. His work is continued by his family and colleagues.
In total, 250 skiers from Ryazan, Shatura, Kasimov, Sasov, Elatma, Kadom, Ermisha and Starozhilov came to the competition. There were also athletes from the Klepikovo district.
Cross-country skiing was opened by the youngest participants – children under 6 years old. Athletes started behind them at distances of 2, 3, 5 and 10 km.
The first were Varvara Koroleva, Daria Kulikova and Maxim Mayorov, the second came Kira Ostrovskaya, Alexander Fadeikin and Alina Koptsova, and the third place was taken by Ivan Morozov, Praskovya Smirnova and Mikhail Karpov. The winners and prize-winners were awarded with medals, cups and cash prizes. The most experienced athletes Gennady Zaichikov and Valentina Derevyashkina were awarded special prizes from the district administration.
