An outbreak of swine flu was recorded in the Sverdlovsk region

In the Middle Urals, the incidence of SARS and influenza has increased. Most patients have been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, better known as swine flu.

According to the Sverdlovsk department of Rospotrebnadzor, from December 5 to 11, 59 thousand people turned to doctors. This is 70% higher than the long-term incidence rate. More than half of the patients (56%) are children.

“Influenza A (H1N1) dominates – 16.2% of the number of those examined. Rhinoviruses, metapneumoviruses, and seasonal coronaviruses have also been isolated. <...> Unfavorable in terms of morbidity: Bogdanovich, Asbestovsky urban district, Reftinsky, ”said the sanitary department.

Influenza A (H1N1) is popularly known as swine flu. An outbreak of this strain was recorded in 2009. Among the main symptoms are fever above 38-39 degrees, cough, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Many of those infected also complain of diarrhea and vomiting. The transferred flu increases the likelihood of developing a heart attack and stroke, it can also provoke severe pneumonia and other complications. Swine flu has already been detected in 82 regions of Russia.
