In his statement before the office of the supreme prosecutor Delia Espinozato which he agreed Infobae Peru, Jaime Villanueva not only mentioned that Congresswoman Martha Moyano was going to the Attorney General’s Office, but also that she asked not to be registered. She even entered through the private elevator intended for the head of the institution.

“The congresswoman called me, her or her advisors, who were two: one was called Martín, and the other was called Alva. She told me ‘I want to go talk to the prosecutor’, and I told Patricia, and Patricia told me, ‘tell her to come at such and such a time’ and that’s it, I told her Martha, come at such and such a time. Martha told me ‘make sure they don’t search me’. She got into her car, a black car, through the basement and went up the private elevator where the Prosecutor of the Nation goes up, and she went to the Ambassadors’ Room,” she said.

The relationship was such that he had no qualms about directly requesting the withdrawal of prosecutors José Domingo Pérez and Rafael Vela from the Lava Jato Special Team. At that moment, Benavides did not give in, but he did not rule out doing so later either. “Moyano told me: ‘Now they’re going to call me out for not having achieved that.’ Because Patricia’s response was that she had to wait to see if José Domingo won his place,” declared Villanueva.

Statement of Jaime Villanueva before the Prosecutor’s Office

In another part of the statement, Patricia Benavides’ former advisor mentioned that the Fujimorist reproached the prosecutor for opening investigation for genocide against President Dina Boluarte and Premier Alberto Otárothe, regarding the different deaths, injuries and repressions that occurred in the protests against his government.

“He told me he continues to coordinate with the ‘black’ so that he does not suffer, but less so, because Patricia Benavides already had the direct channel with the top management of Fuerza Popular for the removal of the JNJ and for what is to come. And that’s because what Patricia Benavides didn’t like is that Moyano, that must have been in January or February 2023, asked for an appointment with her (Benavides), came and I participated in that meeting, and Moyano reproached Benavides for having opened an investigation for genocide against Dina Boluarte and Alberto Otárola,” indicated the effective collaborator.

“’That was not a good sign because an investigation for genocide would weaken the Government,’ he told him. Patricia Benavides responded that she had to open an investigation because those were the complaints from the party that had arrived. Moyano practically ordered her. (She told him:) ‘But then archive it as soon as you can because it doesn’t make sense’ or something like that,” she indicated.

At another time, Villanueva also stated that the parliamentarian made him enter through the secret door of the Congress of the republican access to the Junín jirón, so that they can meet and coordinate matters in their favor.

“And a few months later I go to visit her in Congress, she always makes me enter without being registered. […] I remember that about the second meeting, more or less, I went with Miguel Girao and she received us with Nano Guerra, Patricia Juárez and Miki Torres, this is in September or October 2022,” Villanueva said before the prosecution.

“So there it was agreed that they were going to support Patricia Benavides in every way possible, they also ask us about the Lava Jato issue, to see what they can be supported with,” he added.

Likewise, he indicated that he coordinated with her the support for the complaint by Pedro Castillotheir votes to file the complaint against Patricia Benavides and the votes of the bench for the disqualification of Zoraida Ávalos.
