If you suffer a delay or cancellation of your flight, the airlines must compensate you (Cuartoscuro)

In the event of a canceled or delayed flight, passengers have a series of minimum rights that must be respected by all airlines that operate in national territory, as stated by the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).

If your flight was delayed for more than an hourbut less than four hours, the airline must provide at least discounts for subsequent flights to the same destination and/or food or drinks.

In the event that the flight has been delayed for more than two hoursbut less than four hours, the discount offered by the airline must not be below 7.5% of the ticket value.

However, if your flight registers more than four hours late or canceledthe airline must offer you one of the following options:

Refund of the ticket price, plus compensation that cannot be less than 25% of the value of the flight.

A place on the first available flight, food and, where applicable, accommodation and ground transportation to and from the airport.

A ticket for the same destination on a later date, plus compensation that cannot be less than 25% of the ticket price.

It is worth mentioning that these are the minimum obligations of the airlines, however, each of these has its own compensation that you should consult as the case may be.

Profeco is present at each airport, including the AICM. Approach them in case you need information about any irregularities about your flight and the airline.

The AICM is the largest airport in Mexico and one of the most important in Latin America, transporting millions of passengers every year.

It is located in the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office, northeast of the country’s capital and has two terminals: Terminal 1, which is the oldest; and Terminal 2, which was inaugurated in 2007 in order to house mainly international airlines.

This airport is an important connection center for travelers traveling within Mexico and to other countries in America, Europe, Asia and other regions.
