From January 2 to January 7, trains on the Koltsevaya metro line will run in one direction only
In this case, the direction of movement will change once.
In deptrans warnedthat traffic on the Circle Line will be partially closed during these New Year holidays. So, from January 2 to 4, trains will run only counterclockwise around the ring, and from January 5 to 7, only clockwise. All stations remain open.
Such a regime is introduced then in order to “upgrade the infrastructure responsible for the safety and management of train traffic.” Simply put, install new equipment in tunnels and stations. The department promises that thanks to the new systems, it will be possible to increase the number of trains running on the line during peak hours – instead of 34 pairs of trains, 36 pairs will run. Thanks to this, the cars will become freer.
Apparently, the long New Year weekend was specially chosen to carry out these works, because such restrictions on weekdays would cause a real collapse. On holidays, however, passenger traffic is greatly reduced.
The deptrans reminded that for trips during the period of overlap, you can use not only direct transfers between radial lines, but also the MCC, BCL, MCD and the round-the-clock bus B, which runs along the Garden Ring.
