In the last session of this trial with a popular jury, which has been held since Monday in the Granada Court, the Prosecutor’s Office has made its conclusions definitive and accuses this person of committing the crime of murder, another of illicit possession of weapons and two more crimes of attempted murder. The latter for shooting at the other two people who did manage to save their lives in the brawl: the widow of the deceased and another relative. During his statement last Tuesday, the accused assured that his initial intention “was not to kill anyone” but he found his son kneeling on the ground, bloody and with the barrel of a shotgun pointed at his head as a result of a dispute. previous. “When he loaded the shotgun and pointed it at his head, I knew I was going to kill him and I shot (…) it was my son’s life, if I hadn’t done it I wouldn’t be here,” declared the accused in relation to the owner of the farmhouse. , who died practically on the spot. The defense, carried out by lawyer Soliman Ahmed, has requested a not guilty verdict, alleging that he acted in legitimate defense given that the owner of the farmhouse was armed with a shotgun and allegedly intended to kill his son. To this defense he adds another defense of insurmountable fear or temporary mental disorder. Three other people sit in the dock due to their apparent involvement in the events. To two of them, among whom is the son of the main accused, the Prosecutor’s Office attributes a minor crime of injuries for attacking each other during the brawl and asks that they be sentenced to a fine. The private prosecution, carried out by the lawyer Emilio Garrido, has adhered to the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding these three people and accuses a fourth. According to this party, the cousin of the main accused was with him in the car and did not limit himself to accompanying him to the farmhouse, but also allegedly “shot another of those present” that night and considers him a necessary cooperator in everything that happened.
