Holy Week is present in the streets of the capital and yesterday we could see how Queen Sofia, accompanied by her sister Irene of Greece and Infanta Cristina, attended one of the most traditional processions in Madrid: the Procession of Christ of the Halberdiers. Today, Holy Saturday, several more processions were held and on this occasion, the Kings and their daughters wanted to witness the procession of Our Lady of Solitude and Helplessness. Although the weather was not favorable, the royal family enjoyed the event in the front row and, afterwards, they took advantage of being in the capital to take a walk through its streets. Europa Press has exclusively witnessed how King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia walked under the protection of their umbrellas while Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía preferred to walk uncovered. Mixing with the citizens of the capital, they enjoyed a quiet walk along Calle de la Cruz until they reached Plaza de Jacinto Benavente. The King walked several meters ahead, followed by his daughters, while Queen Letizia took the opportunity to chat with a couple of gentlemen she was walking alongside. Without a doubt, the rain has not prevented them from extending their visit to the center of Madrid and enjoying a walk through its streets at this special time of year before returning to their routine and fulfilling their commitments. Demonstrating how much they support Spanish culture, they could not be missing from the typical Holy Week celebrations.
