Through social networks, including TikTok or X, formerly known as Twitter, videos have been broadcast showing workers from the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metermaking propaganda in favor of the candidate for the government of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuchan event that has generated debate as Internet users claim, in reality the resources to maintain this transportation system are used for partisan purposes.

National Regeneration Movement (Brunette), party created by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), defined several days ago his ‘corcholatas’ to succeed Martí Batres Guadarrama, so among the most famous characters is the former Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC), Omar García Harfuch, whose campaign in charge of territorial liaisons, that is, citizens who are on public roads, began on October 5.

In that sense, it became relevant that Mexico City Metro workers used everything from transportation vehicles to alleged resources to paint fences or, deliver propaganda in order to favor the former chief of the capital’s Police.

The first time a video of this type went viral was on October 5 when motorists recorded a van carrying Metro workers who were seen painting the walls with the slogan “Seguro Harfuch” or “The good one is Harfuch.” Therefore, this act immediately generated controversy.

“The Budget for the Maintenance of the #Metro is spent on this by the Authorities of @GobCDMX and @MetroCDMX,” they wrote.

It should be noted that on that same date, the candidate for the government of Mexico City openly thanked the Metro workers for the invitation to the closing of the congress where they participated. In that sense, he also took the opportunity to highlight that the people who are in charge of this transportation system are “an example of progressive union struggle and continuous effort to serve,” which is why he reaffirmed their commitment to continue working to achieve the “progress that our city needs.”

However, this Saturday, October 7, another clip went viral showing another group of Metro workers in the vicinity of the station. Since the morning of this Saturday, October 7, supporters not only of García Harfuch, but also of Clara Brugadaformer mayor of Iztapalapa, have taken on the task of taking to the streets in order to carry out propaganda acts in favor of said political personnel, who will face Hugo López-Gatell to the internal survey that will be carried out on October 27 in order to elect the person who will represent Morena during the 2024 elections.

Despite the controversy over the performance of the Metro workers in their favor, the former head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security met with residents of San Miguel Topilejo in the mayor’s office Tlalpan where he addressed his government project in case he was the corcholata chosen by the cherry party. “Thank you very much for this enormous support. This moment has been extremely significant and important for me,” he wrote on social networks. The Metro, for its part, has not commented on this fact, which continues to give rise to something to talk about.
