In the Ryazan region convicted the driver who knocked down a teenager
On December 14, the Ryazan District Court considered a criminal case against a driver who hit a teenager on a bicycle. This was reported by the website of the regional prosecutor’s office.
The investigation established that in October 2020, the accused was driving a GAZ car along the M-5 Ural highway. On the 216th kilometer between Listvyanka and the turn to the village of Panferovo, he knocked down an underage cyclist. Instead of providing first aid to the victim and calling the doctors, the driver dragged the teenager into a ditch. Then he fled the scene. The boy died from his injuries.
The defendant denied his guilt.
The Ryazan District Court found him guilty of committing a crime under paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 264 (“Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles”), as well as Article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Knowingly leaving without the help of a person in a life-threatening condition”). The driver will have to spend 8 years and 6 months in a general regime colony.
The verdict has not yet entered into force and can be appealed to the court of appeal.
