Mobile operators are promised to be allowed to block spam calls as early as 2023

About it reported Head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev during the “government hour” at a meeting of the State Duma. He added that technically such a possibility already exists.

According to Shadayev, mobile operators will be allowed to block automatic calls for advertising purposes as early as January-April next year. Corresponding amendments will be made to the rules for the provision of services.

So there is hope that very soon subscribers will be relieved of intrusive calls with hackneyed phrases like “How much are you paying for home Internet now?”, “Hello! This is Marina, your theater sommelier!” or “We invite you to take a free examination of the body.” And you don’t have to listen to robots, which you can’t really send. Well, and most importantly, it will be possible to refuse the Black List service and not pay extra.

The minister also said that over a year and a half, more than 3.5 million SIM cards were blocked in Russia, which were found to be suspicious. This was done as part of the fight against replacement numbers. Mostly blocked SIM cards were issued in the corporate segment.
