New York, Jan 5 (EFECOM).- Wall Street opened this Friday in green and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, its main indicator, rose 0.04% at the beginning of a day marked by the United States employment report.

Twenty minutes after the trading floor opened, the Dow Jones stood at 37,455 points, and the selective S&P 500 rose 0.26% to 4,701 points.

The Nasdaq composite market index also rose 0.26% to 14,548 units.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that 216,000 jobs were created in December, above what analysts expected, and the unemployment rate remained at 3.7%.

The data reflect that the US labor market remains solid, despite the eleven interest rate increases that the Federal Reserve (Fed) has carried out in the last two years with the aim of lowering inflation.

The US regulator considers that interest rates have reached their peak but has not closed the door to future increases, something that investors fear, who anticipated rate cuts as early as March.

After the employment report was published, the yield on the 10-year Treasury bond shot up to 4.08% in reaction to these fears, although minutes later it moderated to 4.05%.

The sectors began the session divided, with advances in communications (0.54%) and financial companies (0.43%) and decreases in real estate (-0.32%) and health (-0.24%) .

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the losses of Walgreens (-1.38%), UnitedHealth (-0.98%) and McDonald’s (-0.83%) stood out, and the biggest profits were for Home Depot (0 .89%) and Caterpillar (0.83%). EFECOM
