Schoolchildren of Nizhny Tagil will start resting ahead of schedule this year – from December 26th. This was announced by Vice Mayor for Social Policy Valery Surov. Early vacations will reduce the rate of growth in the incidence of SARS and influenza. The press service of the mayor’s office stressed that restrictive measures will not affect New Year’s performances.
The epidemiological situation in the region was discussed with the authorities of all cities via video communication with Vice Governor Pavel Krekov. Schoolchildren from several cities, where the largest surge in the incidence is recorded, will go to distance from December 19. Territories where the situation is not so tense should decide on their own: either to transfer schools to online learning from December 26, or to go on winter holidays ahead of schedule. In Nizhny Tagil, the epidemiological situation for viral infections is stable, the Vice Mayor believes, all educational institutions are working. The incidence of ARVI in schoolchildren is fixed at 10%.
“Following the recommendations of the regional headquarters, we decided to send the children to the winter holidays a week earlier. This also applies to institutions of additional education: music schools, art schools and orphanages of creativity. Kindergartens are working as usual in compliance with a set of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures,” said relevant Vice Mayor Valery Surov.
He clarified that these measures will not affect the holiday events. City Christmas trees, New Year’s parties and performances will be held as usual, but in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards. All participants and spectators will undergo a sanitary filter: thermometry and hand sanitizer. In addition, adults were advised to wear medical masks when attending public events.
In Nizhny Tagil growing rapidly the number of children with SARS and influenza. This week, call centers received about 5,000 calls from parents. This is a thousand more than in the previous seven-day period.
