Two men who stole about three hundred meters of railway rails in order to hand them over to a scrap metal collection point will be judged in the Rostov region. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District.
During the preliminary investigation, it was established that in August last year, two local residents at the Krasnovka railway station, using a gas welding machine, stole rails with a total length of about 292 meters and more than 2,000 parts of the track structure, including butt plates and bolts. The attackers took the stolen items by car with the aim of handing them over to a scrap metal collection point. The amount of damage amounted to more than 280 thousand rubles.
A criminal case was initiated against the defendants for theft on a large scale. Now it is submitted to the court for consideration on the merits. Offenders face up to six years in prison.
