Update ec3633 with the joint assessment of UGT and CCOO

Madrid, Dec 20 (EFE).- Telefónica has reduced the number of people who could be affected by the employment regulation file (ERE) that it proposes in Spain to 3,559, 400 less than in its previous proposal, and has improved the offer economic crisis, which has caused the unions to see an agreement closer.

Representatives of Telefónica and the unions met again this Wednesday at the negotiating tables of the three legal entities of Telefónica in Spain – Telefónica Móviles, Telefónica Soluciones and Telefónica España – to continue with the ERE negotiations, which I initially proposed for up to 5,124 employees, as reported by the UGT and CCOO unions in a statement.

During today’s meetings, the company has reduced departures to 3,559 employees and has made a new economic offer, based, like the previous one, on three sections depending on the year of birth.

For those born in 1968, Telefónica has offered to increase the proportion of the salary that workers would receive up to age 63, from 63 to 65%, while up to age 65, it increases it by two points to 34%.

For those born between 1967 and 1965, the percentage is reduced to 60% of the regulatory salary until age 63 (two points more) and 32% until age 65 (same as in the previous proposal), in addition to a voluntary bonus of 3,000 euros.

Finally, those born in 1964 or previous years will receive 50% of the regulatory salary until age 63 and 32% until age 65, which means maintaining their previous proposal, but adds, in this case too, a voluntary bonus of 3,000 euros .

Likewise, the company has improved the complementary conditions by adding reversibility of income in the event of death, the payment of group insurance up to age 63, 100% of the basic health policy up to that age and the inclusion of those over 65 years.

Previously, Telefónica had already assured that it would pay the benefits of the special Social Security agreement until the age of 63 and would create employment equal to 7% of the impact, among others.

UGT and CCOO have indicated that the meeting has served to bring positions closer together, although they have not yet reached any principle of agreement.

“Our proposal continues to be that the conditions of previous staff adaptation plans be exceeded and the percentages be expanded in all the proposed sections,” they stated.

Both union organizations demand that those born in 1964 be included in the group of those born in 1965, 1966 and 1967, the complete coverage of the special social security agreement, beyond the age of 63; the extension of the coverage of the health policy to the coverage of the special social security agreement and the inclusion of contributions to the pension plan.

They add that the company has to assume the payment of the cost of social security during unemployment benefits, in addition to generating more jobs.

Telefónica and unions will meet again tomorrow, Thursday, to continue negotiations. EFE
