The Canary Islands expect to receive this week the proposed modification for the distribution of migrant minors

The Deputy Minister of the Presidency and spokesperson for the Government of the Canary Islands, Alfonso Cabello, has hoped that this week the proposed legislative modification will be received by the State so that there is a distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors who protect the archipelago alone. “We are waiting to receive this modification proposal from Minister Ángel Víctor Torres after the failure that occurred last week in the sectoral commission that met with the different CCAA and that stopped the agreement for the referral of some 400 minors not accompanied,” he said during the press conference after the Government Council this Monday. For Cabello, this reinforces the idea that solving this problem can no longer be done through solidarity and specific agreements, “but rather through agreement and modification of the regulatory and legislative framework.” “Therefore, we are waiting this week to receive that proposal that will allow us, before the summer, to have it approved and be able to move forward in this direction,” he concluded.
