Rome, Oct 8 (EFE).- The Spanish Naia Laso finished fifth in the skateboarding World Cup in the ‘park’ modality that was held in Ostia (Rome) and practically sealed her presence in the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

With a best exercise of 86.25, in her first attempt, improving her great performance in the semifinals, the 14-year-old athlete finished fifth in what was her first World Cup final.

In the next two she scored 56.65 and 15.11 in search of improving her great initial exercise to try to sneak into the top-3, formed by the American Minna Stess (90.80), Hinano Kusaki (93.20) and Kokona Hiraki (94.54), champion of the world and bronze in the last Tokyo Games, in which this modality debuted.

Although this championship does not distribute an Olympic place directly, it scores for the Olympic ranking, so this result leaves it practically classified for the great event in the French capital.

This first Olympic qualifying phase will end with the Pro Tour of Sharjah (UAE) which will be held from January 7 to 15, 2024.

Once this event is over, the best 22 skaters in the classification, with a maximum of 6 per country, will have access to compete in the final Olympic qualification phase, scheduled for March-June 2024 (with number of events, venues and dates still to be confirmed), according to the Royal Spanish Skating Federation.
