On date 9 of Ecuador – Liga Pro 2023, Emelec achieved an overwhelming 3-0 victory against Cumbayá FC and Jaime Ayoví contributed two goals. The goals of the match for the local team were scored by Jaime Ayoví (31′ 1T and 25′ 2T, from a penalty) and Aníbal Leguizamón (52′ 2T).

Oswaldo Contreras Macías was appointed as the main referee of the match in the Caldera.
On the next day Emelec will face Liga de Quito as a visitor and Cumbayá FC will play the home game against Técnico Universitario.
