Tehran, Oct 7 (EFE).- Iran celebrated this Saturday with fireworks the operation of the Palestinian militias against Israel, a country with which it maintains a covert war that includes support for groups such as Hamas.

“Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar,” shouted hundreds of people in Tehran’s Palestine Square, where they gathered to show their support for the “Al Aqsa Storm” operation launched this morning by the Islamic militias of Gaza.

The chants were accompanied by fireworks and songs, which gave a festive air to the evening in the Iranian capital, according to television shows in the Persian country.

Iran backs the Palestinian militias in Gaza and leads the so-called Axis of Resistance against the Jewish State, which includes Hamas, mainly responsible for today’s attacks.

Tehran also supports the Lebanese group Hibzulah and Syria.

The celebrations occur after the authorities of the Persian country gave their explicit support to the attack.

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Naser Kananí, “congratulated the great nation of Palestine and all anti-Zionist groups for Operation Al Aqsa Storm,” according to the ISNA agency.

“This operation shows that the resistance movement in Palestine is very confident in launching a multi-faceted operation against the occupiers, using the element of surprise,” Kananí said.

Shortly before, an advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, stated that Tehran supports the Hamas operation.

“We support this operation and we trust that the Resistance Front also supports it,” said Rahim Safavi, advisor to the highest authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the ISNA agency.

At the same time, in the Iranian Parliament, deputies stood up, fists raised, and shouted slogans in support of Hamas, according to videos shared by the Persian country’s media.

Just four days ago, Khamenei assured that Israel’s days are “numbered” because it is “full of hatred” against Iran and other Muslim countries, such as Egypt, Iraq or Syria.

“Israel is a cancerous tumor that will be removed by the Palestinians and the resistance forces,” the leader said.

Palestinian militias from the Gaza Strip, led by Hamas, launched a combined operation this morning, launching more than thousands of rockets and infiltrating Israeli territory, in a surprise and unprecedented attack.

In Operation “Al Aqsa Storm” more than 100 people have died in Israel and more than 900 were injured, while 198 Palestinians were killed and more than 1,600 were injured.

Iran and Israel maintain a covert war that includes cyberattacks, alleged assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists and sabotage of ships, although neither country usually publicly acknowledges its actions.
