Sports editorial, Oct 8 (EFE).- CN Barcelona lost 12-11 against Telimar Palermo in the first match of group A of the Euro Cup played in Sicily (Italy), a match that was decided at the last minute.
The game began with a goal from Abel Ramón in the only positive note for the Barcelonans in a long first quarter in which they suffered five exclusions to only one for the Sicilians.
Palermo, with goals from veteran Alex Giorgetti, David Occhione and Dylan Woodhead, was 3-1 even though they missed a penalty to further increase the lead.
The Sicilians extended the lead (4-1) in a second quarter in which two goals from Pol Daurà and Ramiro Veich broke the 10-minute drought without scoring.
The toughness of the match is reflected in the expulsion of the local Vitale and in the following action by Daurà when only 12 minutes had passed.
After 5-3, two goals from Abel Ramón and Marc Valls, from a penalty and in the last second, returned the tie to 5 at half-time and the match was completely open for its outcome.
Captain Pol Gomà gave the second advantage of the game for the Barcelonans in a third quarter in which Giorgetti and Fabiano returned the minimal advantage for the Italians (7-6), in a clash with more alternatives.
The last period was a festival of goals, with ten in total. Gomà tied (7-7), but two goals from Hooper and Woodhead (9-7) gave the Sicilians two goals.
The CNB maintained its options within the goal carousel with new goals from Pau Linares, Ramón and Andrade to make it 11-10 with 47 seconds remaining.
With twenty seconds left, Alex Giorgietti, with a penalty, sentenced and practically on the horn, Marc Valls made it 12-11.
In the other group match, French team Tourcoing won 8-9 against Solaris Sibenik in Croatia
