Next October 10 marks one more year of “World Mental Health Day”, so the Dr. César Linares Aguilarexecutive president of Social Health Insurance (EsSalud)announced this week that it hopes to serve more than 100,000 patients throughout the country in 2023.

The head of this institution explained that in recent years the cases of patients with mental problems have been increasing, and that this could be interpreted by the gray period during the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19.

He also indicated that 50% of these correspond to anxiety, depression and schizophrenia problems.

“The COVID-19 pandemic increased care for mental health problems. In 2020 we went from 70 thousand consultations to almost 100 thousand in 2021. In subsequent years the trend continues,” explained the EsSalud official.

Precisely due to the increase in mental health care, EsSalud organized a preventive campaign that aimed to raise awareness about the importance of health care, called “Mental health throughout your life.”

This management was carried out in the Magic Water Circuit from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm

It is worth mentioning that this event had the participation of insured and non-insured people from the Social Securityand provided care in psychology and complementary medicine for the entire public.

Likewise, recreational and sports activities were carried out such as group meditation, aerobics for older adults, puppet presentations, tai chi, among others.

The Federation Center Union of Social Health Security Workers of Peru (FED-CUT) announced this week through its social networks that starting next October 10, World Mental Health Dayits workers will abide by an indefinite national strike.

This action was agreed upon with different health unions and seeks to ensure that the agreement in which the Ministry of Labor approved an act that benefited workers with a “signature closing bonus” that amounted to 5,500 soles.

The union accused the National Fund for Financing State Business Activity (Fonafe) of serious interference “in previously established labor agreements”; indicating that this entity intervened so that the workers did not receive the aforementioned bonus.

“The Liberality Bonus is the generosity and good will of EsSalud, however, the closing bonus is an agreement on the part of a collective agreement between the institution and FED-CUT, therefore, it has the force of law. Collective agreements are respected,” explained Nila Quiroz, deputy general secretary.

The executive president of EsSalud I assure you that the institution would not oppose doctors and other health personnel from across the country working in two State establishments; this after the proposal of the Minister of Health Cesar Vasquez.

“Unfortunately, the law does not allow a double bonus. He was only released due to the pandemic, due to the lack of professionals. That would have to be carried out through another law. If so, there would be no problem for us,” he told Infobae Perú.
