Swiatek qualifies for China Open final at Gauff’s expense

Sports editorial, Oct 7 (EFE).- Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, second favorite, has qualified for the final of the China Open, in the WTA 1000 category and which is played on hard courts in Beijing, after winning 6-2 and 6-3 to the American Coco Gauff, third seed, in 1 hour and 19 minutes.

Swiatek completed a very solid match supported by his service, which was not endangered at any time by not conceding a single break ball throughout the entire match and completing a percentage of 75% of first serves and 87% of points won with them.

In the first set, the Polish player took advantage of her third break point of the match in the third game to take the lead and extended the lead in the fifth, taking a 4-1 lead. She was able to close the initial stretch with 6-1, but she wasted a set point with Gauff’s serve and ended up finishing it with the next option she had.

The second set took place along identical lines, with it being enough to break the American in the first and last games. With the title at stake, Swiatek will face the winner of the clash between the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, seeded number 5, and the Russian Liudmila Samsonova.
