Two girls died in strange circumstances after being admitted to a clinic in Ibagué

The inhabitants of Ibagué are on alert due to two deaths involving minors. According to initial reports, they were admitted to a care center and died there under circumstances that are yet to be determined.

The events occurred during the previous weekend, however, the Ibagué Mayor’s Office announced the situation on February 21, with information from the Ministry of Health that is following the trail of what happened.

Faced with this situation, the administration of the musical capital of Colombia went to the medical center on two occasions, in which they carried out technical visits and an audit to see first-hand the report of the cases.

According to what was reported by Liliana Ospina, Municipal Health Secretary, preliminary information from the hospital indicates that the doctors provided the required care to the patients, although the cases became complicated and they lost their lives.

“The first case is a female patient with the initials NVRL, who He was admitted on February 16 with a clinical picture of two days of fever and upper respiratory symptoms.“explained the official about one of the cases investigated.

Likewise, he clarified that the medical report contains the details that were presented during the hospital stay, among them are the “abnormal growth of the heart and severe lung involvement.”

It is worth mentioning that this is not the only case that occurred, taking into account that another minor was admitted to the hospital on the same date. Although these would be isolated cases.

“He also entered the same day with the presence of clinical picture of fever, vomiting, oral intolerance, with torpid evolution, with a presumed diagnosis of death from hypovolemic shockgrade two dehydration, sepsis of gastrointestinal origin and febrile syndrome,” the expert said.

The causes of the girls’ deaths are being determined in the midst of the investigation, since it could be a disease that is directly attacking the children or the hypothesis that they could be isolated cases is also being considered.

For this reason, caution is requested regarding information related to the deaths of the girls, taking into account that they involve minors and that the investigation is still ongoing and, through it, it is intended to determine the truth and rule out the possible negligence in the care provided.

“The Municipal Administration will continue to carry out control visits to verify that citizens are provided with quality medical service and care.“, stated the Mayor’s Office of Ibagué through a statement in which the commitment to patients is recalled.

It is worth mentioning that several similar events have been investigated in the national territory in recent years to verify that the patients’ conditions are adequate and It seeks to rule out that it is not a case of medical negligence, since responsibilities have also been determined in some of the cases..
