The reason for this refusal was due to the fact that the US authorities highlighted that the Government of Mexico headed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), has a policy of supplying free fuel to the Cuban dictatorship, an action that the congresswoman stressed is just a way to finance this regime against the people who live on the island.

“The President of Mexico is using Pemex as a charity organization for dictators,” highlighted the congresswoman of Cuban origin.
