Mexican authorities have rescued more than 700 Central American migrants who were in a warehouse located in the municipality of Cuaxomulco, in the state of Tlaxcala, in the center of the country and east of the capital, Mexico City. The rescued people, who are originally from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua, are of different ages and among them there are 75 unaccompanied minors. There is also a woman who is eight months pregnant. Some of them suffered dehydration and nervous breakdown, although none required hospital care. The Secretary of Citizen Security of Tlaxcala, Alberto Martín Perea Marrufo, has reported that six men have been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking. These have been made available to the competent ministerial authority “in order to determine responsibilities.” State Police have reported that they received a call early Sunday morning reporting that there were two trucks in an abandoned warehouse. Subsequently, a new notice indicated that there were people from different vehicles entering the infrastructure. This discovery has been made public just days after the authorities of Sonora (northwest) and Tamaulipas (northeast) announced in separate operations the rescue of 18 and 32 migrants respectively.
