According to what is stated by the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred), until 11:00 a.m. the colossus recorded, in the last 24 hours, a total of 195 exhalations of low intensity, which were accompanied by water vapor, volcanic gases and, on some occasions, the fall of ash.

However, in the case of explosions, the agency warned that the first two were recorded at 02:16 and the second at 07:11, that is, before the lunar eclipse occurred that could be seen in the country partially.

In addition to the events described previously, Cenapred highlighted that until its last report there were a total of 482 minutes of tremor high frequency and very low amplitude. For this reason, the volcanic traffic light remains yellow Phase 2 and with this, the population is warned don’t try to get close nor to the slopes of the volcano or even try to climb to the crater.

Although the National Center for Disaster Prevention warned of a total of two explosions that occurred on the morning of this Saturday, October 14, for the 2:20 p.m. a was recorded dense fumarole which was seen for several kilometers around.

Civil Protection of the State of Puebla warned about this natural phenomenon that until now, is the one with the greatest activity on the part of ‘Don Goyo’, as the colossus is also often called. The intense explosion was accompanied by tremor and launching of incandescent material on the slopes of the volcano.

Due to the direction of the wind, it is noted that the northeastern regions of the state of Puebla are the ones that will be most affected by the ash fall. Regarding Mexico City, it is noted that the area south, East and west of the capital will be those that, according to what was stated by the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, will be affected by the presence of ash after this fumarole.

In case of rain, it is requested to avoid approaching ravines that are close to the volcano since there may be landslides that put the safety of citizens in general at risk. If required, the emergency number 911 will be where reports are made in addition to volcanic activity, especially that registered throughout this Saturday.
