New York, Nov 5 (EFE).- Ethiopian Tamirat Tola was proclaimed champion of the New York Marathon this Sunday and set a new record for the race.

Gold in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Tola, 32 years old and who dominated the event from start to finish, took the victory in the Big Apple with a time of 2h04:58, which allowed him to break the record of New York that Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai had since 2011 with 2h05:06.

Tola also took over from Kenyan Evans Chebet, winner in New York in 2022 but who did not participate in this year’s event.
