The PP prepares its European offensive against the amnesty to activate international pressure on Pedro Sánchez

There is still no formal document on the amnesty, but the Popular Party is already preparing for one. This is a before and after for the PP offensive against the Pedro Sánchez negotiationssince since European Commission does not take a position on the amnesty, arguing that there is no text on which to position oneself, although they have already warned that there are “boundaries” to the approval of this law. The popular ones take advantage of this to prepare an opposition from Europe that increases political and social tension against Sánchez’s negotiations to achieve his investiture, once the amnesty is agreed.

“This has a national, European and international reach”, point out sources from the National Directorate of the PP, who point out that the party’s offensive will have special relevance in Europe, because Sánchez’s pacts go beyond the framework of agreements to overcome his investiture, as it is a “breakdown of the rule of law.” . This is how they will present it in Europe, understanding that, once the text of the law is published, the concern will extend to the community level.

For this reason, there will be initiatives at both the national and European levels, in fact, the EPP spokesperson, Dolors Montserrat, has already taken advantage of the future regulations on corruption in the European Parliament not only to sneak in the amnesty debate, but to ban it. He did so through an amendment to veto pardons and amnesties for corruption crimes in the draft European directive in this regard. The PP defends that the amnesty that would be granted to Carles Puigdemont is also for misappropriating public funds, which is why it would enter into this article if the PP amendment is included in it.

This Friday, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, met in Genoa with his three parliamentary spokespersons: Cuca Gamarra (Congress of Deputies), Javier Arenas (Senate) and Dolors Montserrat (European Parliament). The objective of this meeting has been to analyze the institutional and political response to the “PSOE transfers”. Furthermore, the PP is already contemplating the referendum, which it sees as the next step that the PSOE will take in its negotiation with the pro-independence parties.

For this reason, they warn that they will not remain silent or still, and will mobilize all the instruments at their disposal, especially when the text of the amnesty is on the table. They will report it directly to Europe, which has not yet commented on the matter, arguing that it did not have firm or sufficient information to analyze it.

In fact, a few days ago, Feijóo met with members of his in-laws in Brussels to explain to them the situation of the negotiations in Spain: he told them that he had been the winner of the July 23 elections, but that Sánchez was agreeing with the independentistas to govern, and that the acting president was agreeing on issues that threatened the State of Right like amnesty. Obviously, he also referred to Carles Puigdemont, a “fugitive from Justice” who now pulls the “strings” of the country.

He also met with the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, precisely the person who warned the Government about the limits of the amnesty. It’s about a key contact for popularsince he is the person who is expected to position on amnesty once there is a formal text on the table.
