Brand New Story: The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called on Armenia to take advantage of the “historic opportunities” to transform the South Caucasus into a space of peace and cooperation. This statement was made by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Aykhan Hajizade, RIA Novosti reports.
“We call on the Armenian side to take advantage of the current historical opportunity to transform the region into a space of peace and cooperation,” Hajizadeh said.
He commented on the words of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Baku did not express its position on the three principles proposed through the mediation of the European Union to normalize relations between the parties, did not return prisoners, and is “preparing for war with Armenia.” According to a representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, instead of taking practical steps in the peace process, Armenian officials are making unfounded and contradictory statements.
It is unacceptable that the Armenian side makes statements against Azerbaijan,” Hajizadeh concluded.
The day before, Baku announced the EU’s intervention in the process of reintegration of the Armenians of Karabakh.
Previously, Pashinyan denied the connection between the increase in Armenia’s defense budget and preparations for war.
