US military base in Syria comes under attack by Shiite militia

The US military base at Tanf in Syria was attacked by Shiite Iraqi militia fighters. This was reported by the Al Mayadeen TV channel.

The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, a Shiite militia that previously fought against the Islamic State in Iraq, claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a statement, the Shiite group said its unmanned aerial vehicle successfully hit a target inside a US base. In addition, strong explosions were heard at night at a US military base near the Koniko gas field in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor.

The al-Tanf base is located on Syrian territory illegally – without the permission of the Syrian government, as well as without a UN mandate.

Before this, the US State Department declared the pro-Iranian paramilitary group Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada operating in Iraq and its leader Hashim Finyan Rahim al-Sarraj as international terrorists

Iran previously threatened the United States with a “heavy blow” and a boycott of goods.
